The Hedonist Shiraz is mouth-filling, elegant, flavoursome, red berries, integrated oak, but above all; soft and velvety. Flavours last well after the wine has been swallowed. The kind of flavour that true Shiraz lovers lust after.
The fruit for the Hedonist Shiraz is estate grown on a biodynamically run vineyard situated in the Willunga foothills, McLaren Vale. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf lies 10km to the West. The soil is rich loam over clay with patches of underlying limestone, giving the wine a rich and fullness of pallet.
Deep red with purple hues, a lifted nose of red berries, blueberries, liquorice, nutmeg and a touch of freshly cracked black pepper. On the palate red berries carry through with crunchy, refreshing acidity. Firm tannins build structure while adding length to the bright and juicy palate. Exhibits exceptional balance with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel.
The fruit for the Hedonist Shiraz is predominately estate grown on our organic/biodynamic certified vineyard situated in the Willunga foothills, McLaren Vale. Fruit is also sourced from the Sellicks Foothills, Blewitt Springs and Kangarilla, all from vastly different soil profiles and aspects across the district.
Harvested in stages, commencing on 23rd February. The blend comprises of several batches harvested over a period of approximately 4 weeks. The grapes were harvested with a selective harvester with an on-board de-stemmer and sorter, bypassing the crusher, straight from the vineyard into 10 tonne open-top fermenters to maintain some whole berry fermentation. An additional portion of the fruit was hand-picked and fermented whole bunch, which spent longer on skins. Malolactic fermentation took place in large (4,500L) and small(300L) format oak from carefully selected French coopers. Matured in oak for 15 months before final blending and bottling. No fining.
Full bodied wine, enjoy with smoky or barbecued meat, pairs especially well with burgers or a char-grilled steak. Also terrific with more robust, slow-braised dishes or stews.

The McLaren Vale is predominately a red wine region, producing some of the best red wines in South Australia. Vineyards were first planted in the mid 1800s. One of the early pioneers Thomas Hardy established a business that evolved to BRL Hardy, one of the largest wine companies in the country. The region also has a healthy number of boutique wineries that consistently make fine wines and experiment with different wine styles. The climate is warm to hot with dry summers, and benefits from cooling breezes from the St Vincent Gulf. The main wine styles: Red – Shiraz (rich, ripe & generous), Cabernet Sauvignon; White – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.
