Listening Station Chardonnay

istening Station Chardonnay is made from a Chardonnay clone that originates from Mendoza, this always shows prominent tangerine notes on the nose, and this vintage also shows intense grapefruit, lime and hints of spice. Refreshingly unoaked, citrus and white peach flavours combine with a zesty fresh acidity and a clean, bright and linear mineral finish.

PRODUCTION
The Victorian region has soils that are sandy loams deriving directly from granite and gneissic bedrocks. They are typically brown to red in colour. Fertility is moderate as are typical yields, grapes tend to be high in concentrated flavours. This Chardonnay clone has a distinctive tangerine peel character. Bright sunny days and cool nights allowed for exceptional flavour development. The wine is a clean crisp style with no malolactic fermentation or oak treatment. The result is an elegant wine with high natural acidity. Picked at night to ensure the cooler climate gives exceptional character to the whole terroir from the area and delivering a well rounded Chardonnay suitable for all occasions.
TASTING NOTE
Refreshingly unoaked, citrus and white peach flavours combine with a zesty fresh acidity and a clean, bright and linear mineral finish. The judicious addition of Langhorne Creek Chardonnay adds palate, weight and texture. Ultimately, this is a bright expression of a Victorian Chardonnay.
This bright and approachable style of Chardonnay is a great partner to a wide range of dishes, try with tempura fried vegetables, aromatic chicken salads or crispy Chinese pork.

Listening Station

In the 1960s the International Space Race was dependent on contact with the few tiny listening and tracking stations in Western Australia: their location crucial for continual communication with the astronauts spinning around the planet. The Listening Station celebrates this relationship, the vast and empty immensity of Western Australian night and the isolated communities that work there.

Victoria

Victoria is a small state in area, but home to possibly the largest number of wineries in Australia, most of them which are small family-run operations. Victoria’s diverse topography, combining numerous mountain ranges, like the Grampians and the Victorian Pyrenees throughout the centre; flat plains in the northeast; and hilly, ocean-cooled reaches in the Melbourne area, make its vineyards amongst the most scenic in Australia. An enormous range of wine styles are available, and virtually every varietal flourishes in some part of the state.
