Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon by Capel Vale

Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon by Capel Vale

Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon by Capel Vale

Capel Vale’s Regional Series wines are elegant and graceful; high quality wines that reflect varietal and regional characteristics.
TASTING NOTE
Distinctive Margaret River regional Cabernet Sauvignon aromas, softer red berry and plum characters and delicate fruit tannins on the finish.
VINTAGE CONDITIONS
The 2021 vintage in Margaret River was a cool, wet & challenging one. A battle from start to finish, with very tricky weather conditions to manage picking around. It was ultimately rewarding with delicate Cabernet
showcasing typical regional characteristics.
VINIFICATION DETAILS
Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was crushed and fermented in stainless vats before being pressed to French oak barriques to complete malolactic fermentation. The wine was left in oak for 10 months before barrel
selection, and was fined prior to filtration.

Capel Vale was the first winery in Western Australia to own and establish vineyards in the cool climate regions of Margaret River, Mount Barker and Geographe. As a result, Capel Vale now produces wines of definitive regional flavour and varietal expression with a focus on balance, complexity and elegant fruit flavours.

Capel Vale is a pioneer in WA with vines planted in 1974. The initial winery was built on the Stirling Estate in Capel in 1979 followed shortly thereafter with the first vintage made by Dr Peter Pratten in 1980.

The Capel River, adjacent to Capel Vale winery is home to many species of waterfowl, including the protected Sheldrake, or native Mountain Duck. When the Pratten family originally planted the vines in 1974, the Mountain Ducks constantly surrounded them, reminding them of their presence whilst they work.

The banks of the Capel River were deliberately untouched to allow the ducks to maintain their natural habitat and can still be seen today, squawking merrily along their way “symbolise what Capel Vale is all about”

Established by Bob & Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.

Berton Vineyards all started at their Eden Valley Vineyard, in High Eden, South Australia. High Eden is a subregion of Eden Valley, situated in the Barossa Valley. It is the highest part of the Barossa, about 500 meters above sea level. In this beautiful part of the world we have planted Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The best parcels of fruit from the Shiraz vineyards go into our Berton Vineyards Bonsai Shiraz, their flagship wine. Fruit from the Shiraz vineyard also forms the backbone for their Reserve Shiraz, which won the Decanter Platinum Best Value Rhone varietal in 2017. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc make up their High Eden Range, and the Chardonnay goes into the White Rock Chardonnay and Reserve Eden Valley Chardonnay.

The Wrong Un Shiraz Caberne

The Wrong Un Shiraz Cabernet

The Wrong Un Shiraz Cabernet from One Chain Vineyards, part of the Cricket Series, inspired by a love of the Aussie national sport.

A rich, well balanced example of the Aussie classic blend. Lush black fruits coupled with touches of woodspice, liquorice and cassis follow through to a delicious, velvety finish.

To make this wine parcels of fruit were destemmed and crushed into static and rotary fermentation vessels and fermented on skins for around seven to ten days, at temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees. Cap management techniques were optimised for each individual parcel to maximise the extraction of desirable colour and flavour components while maintaining soft tannin structures. Maturation took place mostly in stainless steel tanks.

The grapes are harvested by machine in the cool of the night from vineyard sites across South Eastern Australia.

The wine is great with BBQ meats.

The Cricket Series wines are inspired by a love for the Australian national sport. Indeed, the name One Chain is the imperial measurement for 22 yards, or the length of a cricket pitch. However, you really don’t need to be a connoisseur of the game to be bowled over by the bright red fruit and subtle oak of the Shiraz Cabernet.

The Wrong Un Shiraz Caberne, another classic and great delivery by the One Chain spin merchants.

Established since 2006, One Chain Vineyards has a reputation for crafting benchmark varieties with both elegance and personality.

Working closely with growers in Langhorne Creek, Clare and the Barossa Valley, our wines demonstrate the synergies of the best grape varieties grown in the right places.
Beautifully and strikingly packaged, each variety is allowed to display the freshness, vitality and balance that defines their character.

The Accomplice Shiraz

The Accomplice Shiraz

The Accomplice Shiraz

Let the Accomplice be your partner in wine. Cheeky, fun, easy drinking wine for everyday.

A fruit driven soft juicy Shiraz. With a bright red appearance, this youthful Shiraz exhibits a chorus of juicy red berries flavours with layers of spice and a soft tannin finish.

Following good rains during winter, good soil moisture along with warm spring days leading into the 2021 vintage allowed the vines to enjoy a good growing season with crops returning to an average size. Relatively mild summer temperatures enabled the fruit to retain a good acidity and freshness of flavour. Harvest began mid-January for the white grapes, with red grapes starting a month later and all Riverina fruit harvested prior to the end of March. Good yields and very good quality.

The De Bortoli family story is one of determination and triumph that started 90 years ago and is now told, generations later, across Australia.
Our heritage encompasses the universal story of immigrants making good in an adopted land, the rise and rise of the Australian wine industry and the tale of a hardworking and innovative family
who considers good wine, good food and good friends to be among the true pleasures in life.
Today, as a fourth generation enters the family business, De Bortoli is amongst the top wine producers of Australia with vineyards spanning 6 premium wine regions.

Over the past few years we have changed our thinking and our approach to growing grapes and making wine. The change is being driven by both philosophical and pragmatic factors but mostly by our desire to leave a legacy for future generations, an idea with resonance for any family-owned company.
