Enchanted Garden Riesling

Enchanted Garden Riesling

Enchanted Garden Riesling by Dandelion Vineyards

Colour
Pale white-gold; clear, bright and engagingly luminescent.
Nose
Fresh! Red apples – both fruit and skin. And musk. Musk in its many guises and forms: sweet, floral, heavy, and powerfully aromatic. Underlying the top notes come citrus and citrus zest, and the blossom of both orange and lime. It seems at one moment too heady, the next too ethereal. It is riesling in the shadows.
Palate
And perhaps because of these beguiling aromatics this wine really does provide quite a lot of wine in the glass. There is a lot going on. Acid line and length act like train tracks along which glide mineral salts and sea asparagus, slate and fresh-running Alpine river water from a glacier’s melt. It is citric and also succulent; the musk qualities return, enmeshed in the acid structure and the wine’s purity and truth.
Drink
At 11% alcohol here is a wine demanding pre-luncheon attention, from simple charcuterie to home-shucked oysters. Fresh fruits and soft cheeses? Why not.
But for every bottle you drink today you ought keep one bottle in your climate controlled, internet-ready, drone monitored, carbon-neutral eco-cellar. For at least 5 years. Then pork rillette with toasted rye bread, on a Monday in very late autumn, in a moment of tranquility.

Dandelion Vineyards is a unique fusion of vineyards and vignerons. Our wines represent decades of experience, blending the fruit of our old vine gardens with the finest traditions of artisan winemaking.
Dandelion Vineyards are proven plantings that have stood the test of time. Our wish is to nurture the unique character of these vineyards and express their terroir in our wines. Capturing variety, vintage and vineyard requires
an enlightened approach and although vignerons see the Devil in every weed, we encourage the humble Dandelion amongst the vines as they suppress winter weeds, provide mulch in summer, and proffer their Wishing Clocks in spring to blow off and make our wish come true.
Our Enchanted Garden was planted in 1910 and thrives to this day, a 7 acre Eden Valley Vine Garden.

Listening Station Shiraz

Listening Station Shiraz

Listening Station Shiraz

Soft supple Victorian Shiraz, dangerously moreish by the glass. Bright, aromatic and juicy on the nose with just a touch of naughty bacon fat and white pepper. True to the varietal. This vintage is our brightest, most dangerously drinkable Shiraz to date due to its fine, bright fruit and soft silky elegance.

Our Shiraz is sourced from ancient Victorian soils in order to achieve a wine with greater finesse, purity and structure as well as typical eucalypt flavours and saline finish associated with the area. Picked at night and crushed within an hour of picking before being sent to the fermentation tanks. The Shiraz grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled tanks maintained at 22 Р25ºC to avoid extracting any harsh tannins, with the fermentations pumped over to extract good colour. 20% of the final blend is barrel aged.

Drink with Moroccan lamb tagine, roast vegetables and hard cheeses.

Victoria’s cooler climate ensures the grapes used for this wine come in with wonderfully fresh flavours. This Shiraz has sweet spice, black cherry and a lovely menthol, eucalyptus note. On the palate the wine has a medium body with some ripe cola cube notes with cherry fool and fresh blackberries. This is a fantastic value for money Shiraz that is perfect for lamb stew or lasagna.

To the eye a pale straw hue with an unrelenting fine bead. A bouquet of fresh lemon pith with complexing brioche & barley sugar. The palate is treated to a voluminous mousse of citrus and
freshly iced pastries that goes on and on to a delicately fresh fine acid finish.

A bouquet of fresh lemon pith with complexing brioche and barley sugar. The palate is treated to a voluminous mousse of citrus and freshly iced pastries that goes on and on. To the eye a pale straw hue with an unrelenting fine bead.

The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are picked in the cool of the night to retain acid. Ferments are warm to add interest and mouth feel. Harmony in the wine comes from the blending of the two varieties over numerous vintages. A secondary ferment is then undertaken in tank to add weight and a lovely creamy texture to the wine.

The De Bortoli family story is one of determination and triumph that started 90 years ago and is now told, generations later, across Australia.
Our heritage encompasses the universal story of immigrants making good in an adopted land, the rise and rise of the Australian wine industry and the tale of a hardworking and innovative family
who considers good wine, good food and good friends to be among the true pleasures in life.
Today, as a fourth generation enters the family business, De Bortoli is amongst the top wine producers of Australia with vineyards spanning 6 premium wine regions.

Over the past few years we have changed our thinking and our approach to growing grapes and making wine. The change is being driven by both philosophical and pragmatic factors but mostly by our desire to leave a legacy for future generations, an idea with resonance for any family-owned company.

Berton Reserve Botrytis Semillon

Berton Reserve Botrytis Semillon

Berton Reserve Botrytis Semillon

Luscious, honeyed flavours of peach and pineapple are well balanced by a refreshing, natural freshness.

Vintage
A dry start to the season continued right through to harvest in most regions which resulted in little to no disease issues in the vineyard. Early season temperatures were mild until January saw extreme heat waves for most of Riverina and supplementary water was crucial in maintaining vine health and crop protection. Despite the season’s challenges, the wine quality in 2019 is excellent.
Vineyard
The Griffith area is internationally renowned for producing some of the best Botrytis affected wines. The fruit is left on the vine for a significantly longer time than other Semillon to encourage the growth of Botrytis, which desiccates the skin allowing the moisture to evaporate. The berries are harvested at optimum maturity. The vine age is varied, but all vines have been spur pruned and are generally trained on a single wire cordon trellising system. The soil types in the vineyards are varied, with each adding its own characteristic to the resulting wine.
Winemaking
Harvested in early May, the sweet shrivelled fruit was left on skins overnight in a bag press to allow maximum flavour and sugar extraction before being pressed. The juice was then clarified and filtered before the start of fermentation. Fermentation lasted for four weeks and when half of the sugar had been converted to alcohol, fermentation was arrested by chilling to 3°C. Once clarified, the wine underwent 12 months oak maturation before being prepared for bottling.
Tasting Note
A luscious wine with intense and layered aromas of orange rind, apricot and honey. The vibrant palate delights with notes of apricot and almond biscotti which carry through to a beautifully balanced finish enhanced by toasted notes and subtle spice.
Grape
Semillon 100%

Established by Bob & Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.

Berton Vineyards all started at our Eden Valley Vineyard, in High Eden, South Australia. High Eden is a subregion of Eden Valley, situated in the Barossa Valley. It is the highest part of the Barossa, about 500 meters above sea level. In this beautiful part of the world we have planted Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The best parcels of fruit from our Shiraz vineyards go into our Berton Vineyards Bonsai Shiraz, our flagship wine. Fruit from the Shiraz vineyard also forms the backbone for our Reserve Shiraz, which won the Decanter Platinum Best Value Rhone varietal in 2017. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc make our High Eden Range, and the Chardonnay goes into the White Rock Chardonnay and our Reserve Eden Valley Chardonnay.

Broken Shackle Classic White

Broken Shackle Classic White

Broken Shackle Classic White

It is the simplicity of the fruit, the sheer crunchy gluggable vivacity of the liquid, that first established Australia as everyone’s favourite vineyard. It’s what we aim for in Broken Shackle. Berton Vineyards is one of our longest-standing producers. Having established his own vineyard in 1996 in South Australia’s Eden Valley, after a lot of hard yakka Bob Berton purchased a state-of-the-art winery in Yenda, NSW, in 2007 and now sources fruit
in the heart of the Riverina.
Vineyard
Sourced from vineyards throughout the Riverina region. The vine age is varied, but all vines have been spur pruned and are generally trained on a single wire cordon trellising system. The vines are planted at approximately 1.8 metres apart with 3.6 metres between the rows, to allow machinery access.
Winemaking
As ripeness was achieved the Semillon and Chardonnay grapes were harvested in the cool of the night in retaining freshness. The fruit was crushed, destemmed, chilled and pressed immediately. The juice from pressing was clarified before a slow fermentation at cool temperatures of 14-16°C using a carefully selected yeast to optimise varietal expression. Following very little maturation to retain the fresh varietal characters, the Semillon and Chardonnay parcels were blended, stabilised and filtered for bottling.
Tasting Note
This Semillon Chardonnay is full of inviting aromas of fresh citrus notes. The palate is crisp with delicious flavours of lime and passion fruit, perfectly balanced to create a soft, dry finish.
Grape
Semillon 67%, Chardonnay 33%
