Vineyards were established in the 1850s, but were abruptly halted in the 1870s when Victorian government ordered removal of vines due to an outbreak of phylloxera. Viticulture didn’t return until the 1960s when Nini and Daryl Sefton established their Idyll vineyard. Since that time a significant number of vineyards and wineries have been established. The climate is regarded as cool and experiences wind chills. The main wine styles: White – Chardonnay; Red – Pinot Noir.
