Foundstone Unoaked Chardonnay
Fresh aromas of white rose and jasmine with undertones of lemon rind and a small hint of allspice lead into a palate which is full of peach, banana and almond flavours. The wine concludes with a little bit of zing, leaving a lengthy and lasting finish.
The Foundstone Chardonnay was harvested at optimum ripeness from specially selected parcels in the early hours of the morning, retaining the fresh, crisp and fruit driven style it’s renowned for. Once at the winery, the fruit is crushed, destemmed and chilled to our bag press where gentle press cycles extract the juice. The free run juice portion juice is clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature, with an aroma enhancing yeast that promote. After completion of ferment, the wine was left on yeast lees to retain freshness and enhance palate weight, ahead of blending, filtration, and bottling
Berton Vineyards Foundstone Unoaked Chardonnay is a pure, fresh example of this, one of Australia’s signature grape varieties. The wine shows aromas of ripe lemon, lime and honeydew melon, with rich citrus and melon flavours.
Foundstone Unoaked Chardonnay
Established by Bob & Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.

The Berton Vineyards story began 25 years ago from humble beginnings.
We are still young enough to be awed by tradition but we also challenge ourselves by testing the boundaries of winemaking.
We pride ourselves on being a contemporary winery with an emphasis on all that is casual, friendly and approachable in wine. Our philosophy is to make affordable, easy drinking wines of quality achieved through pairing modern technology with traditional techniques.
Testament to our philosophy are our award winning wines such as our High Eden Bonsai Shiraz, Reserve Botrytis Semillon and Metal Label range.
South Australia is the largest wine producing state of Australia. It may be surprising to most that the Riverland region is the state’s largest grape producing area. The Barossa Valley is famed for its full-bodied, rich, ripe and generous reds. The Coonawarra is internationally renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon (and prized ‘terra rossa’ soils). Padthaway, McLaren Vale, and the Clare Valley all make major contributions, and the importance of the Adelaide Hills is rapidly increasing.
Australia’s most widely planted white grape variety. The heavily oaked styles of the earlier nineties are now being replaced with styles emphasising the regional fruit and greater complexity. The cooler climate regions producing styles of great elegance and finesse.
