Sixty Clicks Shiraz Mataro
Sixty Clicks Shiraz Mataro is a concept. Normally Boutinot’s wines come from mountains or oceans but Central Victoria is a flat, featureless plain. All we have to describe the place is vines in time and distance. Sixty clicks in a minute, an hour, frames per second in film, and sixty kms from one side of this farm to the other.
The Shiraz and Mataro grapes used in this blend come from the flatter parts of the vineyard in northwest Victoria. The vineyards run from east to west ensuring they gain the maximum amount of sunlight to give the grapes all the development they need on the red sandy loam soils with clay subsoil. Grapes are harvested by machine at night, arriving at the winery to be crushed within the hour and pressed by bag and then moved to the fermentation tanks, where they spend 4 weeks with oak staves, on their skins and pumped over four times a day. The final blending of the Shiraz and Mataro wines are done under strict supervision of the head winemaker, before being transported to the bottling facility.
TASTING NOTE
A really expressive, bright, contemporary Aussie red. The nose of soft, open, chocolatey fruit has a clove note with a palate of fresh brambly, cherry-red fruit that leads to a gently spicy finish.
FOOD MATCH
Great with a BBQ in the summer, comforting meat casseroles in the winter, or just a great all-rounder in between

We have our own vineyards. We think this is important. It means we practice what we preach. We roll up our sleeves and get stuck in. It gives us the knowledge and capability to experiment, innovate and develop our own unique tasting wines.
Made by Boutinot is more than just our vineyards and cellars in France, Italy, South Africa and England. It’s our longstanding relationships with hundreds of winegrowers around the world. People in places like Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Spain and the USA. We craft our wines by both vinifying fruit from our own vineyards, and by selecting and blending wine from partner growers.
Our dedicated product managers (including two Masters of Wine) work hand in hand with our experienced and highly talented winemakers and blenders. Together they bring our winemaking philosophy to life. It’s their mission to ensure all Made by Boutinot wines are crafted to taste the way a Boutinot wine should. Never losing sight of our vision to create high quality wines at every price point.
Victoria is a small state in area, but home to possibly the largest number of wineries in Australia, most of them which are small family-run operations. Victoria’s diverse topography, combining numerous mountain ranges, like the Grampians and the Victorian Pyrenees throughout the centre; flat plains in the northeast; and hilly, ocean-cooled reaches in the Melbourne area, make its vineyards amongst the most scenic in Australia. An enormous range of wine styles are available, and virtually every varietal flourishes in some part of the state.
Blend Australia’s finest fleshy fruity grape variety with other grape varieties results in some wonderful wines.
