Mollie & Merle Verdelho

Mollie & Merle Verdelho is made from only free-run juice. Focused on the nose with lifted perfumed citrus aromas. The palate is bright and textural with fine acid balance and great length of flavour.

The Verdelho is made using only the free run juice with minimal skin contact to keep the flavours fresh and bright. Parcels were picked at optimum ripeness for best pure flavour and acid balance then fermented separately. Selected base parcels were then blended to give the best balance of flavour and texture.

This wine has been named in honour of our grandmothers Mollie and Merle.
The grape variety Verdelho has been grown in Langhorne Creek for over 150 years. It is perfectly suited to our regions climate and growing conditions. We have chosen to make a fresh, vibrant style of Verdelho to express the pure varietal characters.
We have used only free run juice providing a clean focused Verdelho with lifted perfumed citrus aromas. The palate is bright and textural with fine acid balance and great length of flavour.

The winemaking team headed by family winemaker Rebecca Willson has taken the quality of our wines to new standards.
Rebecca seeks the best possible fruit from our own and other specialised Langhorne Creek vineyards to craft traditional, full bodied, full flavoured, mouth filling Langhorne Creek wines that show a consistency of style whilst encouraging the true varietal grape characteristics to be expressed.
The winery has invested heavily in a premium French & Amercian oak program using 220 litre barriques to ensure subtle and complementary oak influences. The winery utilises tradtional open top fermenters, made from stainless steel and a purpose built barrel cellar for maturation. New laboratory and tasting facilities are part of the winery.

South Australia

Langhorne Creek is a little known region with major importance, especially for the production of red wine. Fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon with its minty overtones is the most significant product of the region. Viticulture dates from the 1850s when Frank Potts established Bleasdale the region’s only winery to stay in continuous production. It was only in the 1990s that the major wine companies started setting up in the region. Its significance being the availability and certainty of irrigation water from the Murray-Darling system, providing the facility to grow grapes of very good quality at relatively low costs. It has a mild climate with little variation across the region. The main wine styles: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz.
