Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz

Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz

Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz – This wine has been blended to compliment real food with wines of striking colour and elevated aromas, pristine fruit and a finish to persist with the wildest flavours. Winner in the “Judged with food” at the Sydney International Wine Competition.

2017 experienced lower temperatures and higher than average rainfall. To keep the vines and yields in check, we had to thin the canopies much more than usual. The cool temperature meant that the harvest date was extended to late April; this is one of the latest on record for Shiraz.
The long hang time of the grapes and cold conditions have provided great expression of spicy cool climate shiraz, as pepper intensity is greatest in cooler years.
2017 was one of the most challenging vintages to be seen in 17 years, however I would rate this wine as one of best examples of Ladies Shiraz we have made.

This wine is deep crimson in colour with hints of purple at the rim. On the nose, intense lifted aromas of ripe red berries play with notes of violet, pepper and dark chocolate. The palate is full bodied with complex forest fruits, spice and velvety tannins leading to an elegant, long finish.

Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz pairs perfectly with roasted venison. It has been blended to complement real food with wines of striking colour, elevated aromas, pristine fruit and a finish to persist with the wildest flavours.

It can be kept cellared for the next ten years.

Fowles Wine

Fowles Wine comes from the very cool-climate of the Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria. Amongst other innovations, they have pioneered wine specifically blended to match wild game. Whilst winning many of the best ‘traditional’ awards in the Australian wine scene and being named a “Winery to Watch” by Wine Spectator, Fowles Wine has a culture of doing things differently! (They are also the largest winery in Australia controlled by Gen Y.)

Victoria

Wine production only started in the late 1960s when Alan Cuthbertson established Delatite. He also established Murrundindi in the 1970s. More have followed in the 1990s. The climate if regarded as cool and is favourable for production of premium quality wines. The main wine styles: Whites – Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay; Red – Cabernet/Merlot blends.
