Jansz Premium Vintage Cuvée

Jansz Premium Vintage Cuvée from Tasmania.

Jansz Premium Vintage Cuvée

Tasting Note
Pale gold with a delicate bead and fine mousse. Aromas reminiscent of dry summer meadows, oyster shell and sea spray are overlaid with complex notes of sweet brioche, toast and hazelnut nougat. The palate is elegantly structured with flavours of lemon zest, oyster shell and subtle strawberries and cream. Three and a quarter years ageing on yeast lees in bottle has built further complexity and subtle nuances of baked lemon tart, nougat and roasted hazelnuts. With a refreshing natural acidity on the finish, Jansz Tasmania Vintage Cuvée 2020 is a sparkling wine of finesse, purity and elegance.
Best Enjoyed With
Crumbed Blue-eye trevalla with a squeeze of lemon and hot chips; or roasted eggplant, zucchini and garlic, with fresh thyme and tarragon white wine linguini.
Treatment
Crafted from the finest blocks of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in our estate vineyard at Pipers River, this truly is a benchmark Tasmanian sparkling wine. Planted on deep red basalt clay soils overlooking Bass Strait, these soils and climatic conditions combine to allow long, cool ripening, producing intensely flavoured fruit, balanced with lingering natural acidity.

Jansz Premium Vintage Cuvée is made by Methode Tasmanoise which delivers a superb sparkling adventure.

Established in 1986, Jansz Tasmania specialises in crafting luxury sparkling wines from Tasmania. Australian owned by the Hill-Smith family since 1998, the vineyard was named Jansz Tasmania, paying homage to Abel Janszoon Tasman who first sighted the island in 1642.
Proudly Tasmanian.
From the very best Tasmanian vineyards comes this vibrant yet delicate sparkling Rosé – a wine created for enjoyment and refreshment. Crafted in the Old World style, but with inspiration from today’s innovative techniques and knowledge.

The climatic conditions of the Jansz vineyard rival the famed French wine region of Champagne. In fact, it was originally with French contribution that Jansz became Tasmania’s first sparkling made using the traditional Méthode.
Today we call it, Méthode Tasmanoise. It’s the essence of a partnership between the environment and our winemaker. Just as the cool Tasmanian climate creates spectacular beauty in nature, it is also instrumental in the creation of art in bottles.

It could be argued we’re completely mad growing grapes in the wild and unforgivingly cold Tasmanian environment. But there’s méthode to our madness.

The Jansz Tasmania vineyard sits to the northeast of the island state within the Pipers River region of the Tamar Valley. This cool little corner is colloquially known as ‘Sparkling Tasmania’.
Temperatures here are moderated by close proximity to Bass Strait. The ocean breezes keep the temperature up during winter – minimising risk of frost, and down in summer – allowing our grapes to ripen slowly and develop intense, delicate and refined flavours.
Resting on a bed of pure, red, free-draining basalt soils, the Jansz vineyard truly is the perfect site to grow grapes for world-class sparkling wines.

Jansz

Just three words describe the thinking behind Jansz Tasmania. Time. Patience. Discipline.
The wine embraces all three in equal measure. Time, patience and discipline spent nurturing the vines and their precious fruit. Time, patience and discipline awaiting the perfect moment for picking. Time, patience and discipline in the winery as years are devoted to making the wine with painstaking care and attention.
The vineyards lie in the Tamar Valley along the Northern Tasmanian route at the heart of Tasmania’s Pipers River region, an area known worldwide as “”Sparkling Tasmania””. With a mantle of red basalt soils and a cool climate moderated by its close proximity to the ocean, it is ideal for the slow ripening of fruit and lingering acidity so essential to the production of premium sparkling wine. In fact, the area’s climate so resembled Champagne and Burgundy that several leading French Champagne houses considered basing new operations there.
