Murphy Vineyard Shiraz

Murphy Vineyard Shiraz

This attractive, fruit-driven Shiraz comes from the Murphy family’s vineyards in Australia’s Murray Darling region where they have grown grapes since 1909.
Cherry red with hints of dark plum and chocolate on the nose. The wine is seamlessly balanced with sweet lifted fruit, subtle oak and soft tannins, a delicious wine made to enjoy now.

Harvested at full ripeness, the grapes were crushed and fermented on skins for seven days with regular pumpovers to extract colour and flavour. After pressing, the wine was aged with select French and American oak before blending and bottling.

The Murphy family have grown grapes in the Murray Darling region of Australia, part of the Big Rivers, since 1909. They build on this experience to create their fruit-driven wines.
The grape selection and winemaking practices at Murphy Vineyards aim to highlight the fruit flavours with these appealing wines that show ripe fruit aromas and soft, rich palates. Murphy Vineyards have selected, from their own plantings, Chardonnay and Shiraz grapes of good sound quality which have displayed true varietal expression in the final wine.

Inviting on the nose with rich fruit aromas & medicinal hints. On the palate big, rich & soft all the way through with lovely bramble & blackberry fruit flavours followed by just a hint of spice. Fantastic value at this price

Murphy Vineyard

The Murphy family (of Trentham Estate) has grown grapes in the Murray Darling region of Australia, part of the Big Rivers, since 1909. They build on this experience to create attractive, fruit-driven wines.
The grape selection and winemaking practices at Murphy’s aim to highlight the fruit flavours with these wines. These appealing styles show ripe fruit aromas and soft, rich palates. Murphy Vineyards has selected, from its own plantings, Chardonnay and Shiraz grapes of great quality which display true varietal expression in the final wine.

Murray-Darling

The first winery in the region was established in the 1880s by W.B. Chaffey (Mildura Wine Co at Merbein). Today there are around nine/ten wineries in this region. This may not sound so many for a large area, but they are some of the largest wineries and their production is enormous. References such as: ‘the industrial heartland of Australian wine production’, ‘the powerhouse of the Australian wine industry’ are often used to describe this region wine production. The climate is continental; hot and dry with low rainfall making it a relatively fungus disease free region thus reducing the risk for such large-scale production. The main wine styles: Chardonnay, Semillon.

Shiraz

flourish in a range of climates. In the warm to hot climates you can expect extremely intense aromatic, rich, full bodied wines, with hugh fruit (almost sweet) and chocolately tasting. In the more moderate/cooler climates you’re more likely to find structured Shiraz wines with black cherry, pepper and spice characters rather than the chocolate and fruit styles found in warmer climates.
