Tyrrells Hunter Valley Chardonnay

Tyrrell's Hunter Valley Chardonnay

Tyrrell’s Hunter Valley Chardonnay

The grapes for our Hunter Valley Chardonnay were sourced from a number of sites across the Pokolbin area, each of which has a slightly different microclimate and so brings its own unique personality to the blend.  A cool summer then gave us even, stress-free ripening with some heat around Australia Day that was perfectly timed at the final stages of ripening. With an early budburst and later than normal harvesting, the fruit had a longer than normal hang time, which meant that all of the fruit had wonderful flavours balanced by a high natural acidity. The grapes were both hand and machine picked before gentle pressing and fermentation. After cold settling for two days, the juice began fermentation in stainless steel tanks before being transferred and matured in new and older French oak barriques. After oak maturation, the wine spent an extended time on lees in stainless steel for an additional nine months to build texture and mouthfeel. A method used extensively in Burgundian winemaking.

Textbook modern, medium-bodied Hunter Valley Chardonnay to be enjoyed with a variety of cuisines. The nose shows a great mixture of citrus, white stone fruit, some oak spice as well as just a hint of solids complexity. The palate is medium bodied, with a lively fruit intensity and texture through the mid-palate, with a refreshing acid profile.

Alcohol – 12.5%
Cellaring – Designed for immediate enjoyment

Paulett Trillians Sparkling Riesling

Paulett Trillians Sparkling Riesling

Paulett Trillians Sparkling Riesling

A sparkling blend that is rich and generous with great length and “zing” of flavour anad loaded with character. Serve chilled this sparkling wine from one of Australia’s most famous districts.

Clare Valley is one of Australia`s oldest wine regions and is probably best known for its Riesling wines. Polish Hill River is a sub-region one and a half hours drive north from Adelaide. Named after the Polish settlers of the mid 1800s, the climate is ideal for premium grape growing with a combination of consistently good winter rains, hot summers tempered by cool nights and a long ripening period.

The name Polish River comes from the Polish settlers who came to the area in the early 1850s escaping religious persecution. Pauletts reputation for producing wines of finesse, elegance and intensity is justly deserved with consistent skill and care from vintage to vintage. Neil Paulett graduated from the Roseworthy oenology course in the early 1970s and spent a further ten years honing his winemaking skills at Penfolds before buying his own property in the Clare Valley. Located some 90 minutes north of Adelaide, this lovely property now extends to 150 hectares with 47 planted with vines. Since the first vintage in 1983 there have been many accolades both at home and internationally. These wines are a true reflection of the region and are of outstanding quality.
Tasting Notes
This unusual sparkling Clare Valley Riesling has a bright lemon colour with citrus and yeasty, biscuitty aromas with a persistant and fine mousse. The palate offers rich and lively mouthfilling flavours of typical zesty lime, pineapple, floral and honey flavours, perfectly balanced with a dry, refreshing natural acidity.

Food – An excellent aperitif and wine for enjoying al fresco, but will also prove a great accompaniment to rich seafood like lobster or scallops, artichokes or truffle infused risottos.

Cloud Factory Pinot Noir

Cloud Factory Pinot Noir

Cloud Factory Pinot Noir – Lifted red fruit on the nose, with wild strawberry flavours and cool climate structure throughout. A great value New Zealand Pinot Noir

The first explorers across the great oceans were greeted by the long white cloud which told them that they had at last sighted New Zealand.
The long white clouds still bear the precious rain that, through the marvellous mechanic of the vine, is distilled by nature into this perfect Pinot Noir.

The Pinot Noir comes from 2 vineyards – 87% Rapaura Gravels and 13% Omaka Valley clay soils which included a number of clones, 667,777,115, Abel and Clone 5. Both vineyards were pruned to 2
cane VSP and yields were naturally around the 7T/Ha mark. After green thinning on the vine the fruit was harvested over a period of 10 days from late March through to early April . Each parcel was kept
separate and fermented in small open top tanks and hand plunged up to 4 times daily. Post pressing, wine was sent to a mixture of stainless steel and French oak for MLF and ageing.

From maritime vineyards in Marlborough’s south easterly extremes in the Blind River Valley. They exploit this coastal fruit by capturing a breezy finesse over the classic cranberry and wild strawberry
aromas giving them a wine with enough bite and texture to be foody but with enough generosity of fruit to be a delicious glass on its own. A lick of oak in the winemaking lends a little soothing creaminess to
the whole

Made to go with delicate, rich and aromatic food such as duck dim sums, tempura fried vegetables and oriental salads

Tyrrells Hunter Valley Shiraz

Tyrrell's Hunter Valley Shiraz

Tyrrell’s Hunter Valley Shiraz

Vineyard
A selection of some of our top blocks on the Estate and surrounding area, most of which are dry grown and averaging 40 years in vine age.
Vintage Conditions
The 2019 vintage was the third great vintage in a row for the Hunter Valley, the product of another hot, dry summer. The drought continued through the growing season, but on New Year’s Eve and 7 January, we had good storms that provided the vines with enough moisture to retain their leaves and fill out and ripen the fruit. While the berries were a little smaller than normal, the overall crop was at the level we expected.
Winemaker’s Notes
Our Hunter Valley Shiraz is made to the same high standards that our flagship Vat 9 Shiraz receives. The fruit was destemmed, but not crushed, to ensure as many whole berries as possible made it to the fermenter. The wine was then matured in older, large format French oak casks. These 2,700L casks highlight the fruit purity whilst making sure that oak isn’t the dominant character.
Tasting Notes
Vibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing bright red fruits and confectionary spice. The palate is medium bodied with good depth of flavour yet still lively and fresh. Soft, savoury tannins and a crunchy acidity adds to the wines complexity. A wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz.
