Clovella Mataro Grenache Blend comes from an 80-90yo Seppeltsfield vineyard, bush vine Mataro and converted trellised Grenache. 10% whole bunches picked and co-fermented together, basket pressed to seasoned French oak and an old USA puncheon. Bursts of juiciness with a bit of dirty goodness from the Mataro!
Flovilla Thatch was the dentist’s assistant in the Russ Meyer boob-flick “Beneath the Valley of the Super-Vixens”. The name was misremembered after a heady night of blending but stuck and this vineyard has been known as
Clovella since. The label bears no relation to Russ Meyer’s steamy output but the sultry nature of the wine does. The design inspiration is all about the meeting of mouths, that energy before lips meet, whether meeting a glass of wine or each other. Two varieties blending into one.
The taste starts with cassis, a nose full of promise. Clove and black pepper spice. The palate is dark and sultry with a dried fruit appeal. It finishes with a gentle lick of oak from the time the wine spends in oak.
Best with Braises and stews: long slow cooked roasts of pork or lamb.

Smalltown Vineyards utilises many of the Barossa’s prized districts from Gomersal to Kalimna as well as the Eden Valley and beyond. They work with exceptional vineyards simply expressed using minimal intervention, basket press where relevant, natural ferments in open top fermenters to best capture the Barossa’s magical flavours. They have a lot of fun with labels because, well because they can. It’s only wine after all…

Smalltown Vineyards is named after a 28ha vineyard of the same name, an awesome old block in the Northern Barossa’s esteemed Ebenezer District. The vineyard is a joint venture between noted Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder and UK based wine merchant Noel Young.
Boutinot is very proud to be associated with Smalltown Vineyards of the Barossa Valley – for our first proper foray into the Barossa, we could not have been associated with a more compelling producer! We love to have a dabble at making “our own” wines and Australia is one country where we can really let it rip.
Reflecting our skill and experience in seeking out the very best of regional Australia, our wines capture ideal climatic conditions and pure varietal definition. We have done a great deal of work on improving the sourcing of these wines in recent years to ensure we create great consistency and quality year after year.

South Australia is the largest wine producing state of Australia. It may be surprising to most that the Riverland region is the state’s largest grape producing area. The Barossa Valley is famed for its full-bodied, rich, ripe and generous reds. The Coonawarra is internationally renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon (and prized ‘terra rossa’ soils). Padthaway, McLaren Vale, and the Clare Valley all make major contributions, and the importance of the Adelaide Hills is rapidly increasing.
